I entirely produced, arranged, mixed and mastered this cover of “If The World” by Guns & Roses for the video game project Shadow Stalkers. To fit the project, I was asked to transform this song and turn it into a James Bond Style theme music. Axl Rose’s very good friend Sebastian Bach from the Skid Row fame performed it for us.
This piece of music was written as a showcase for CBS when Charles-Henri was officially competing to score the Television series “Star Trek: Discovery.” Recorded at Warner Brothers with 64 piece of the Hollywood Studio Orchestra, this song was highly praised by Star Trek fans all over the world.
Commandment of Valor" is my continuing work to honor American heroes. Just before the musicians started playing I told them what was the purpose of this music: to honor the US veterans, and those who made the ultimate sacrifice. I told them that if they know a veteran, a friend or a family member perhaps, they should think of them as they perform the piece. This is the result. Thank you to all who are serving, and served.
This piece is a piano and cello performance of a larger orchestral piece which was composed as the main theme for a Sci-Fi Television pilot titled “317” (Three One Seven).
Synopsis: Within the next 50 years, an asteroid the quarter of the size of the moon will enter an orbit in direct collision with Earth. This is more than an extinction level event: Earth will be shattered into pieces. The international community will have twenty years to come up with a secret plan to launch hundreds of space crafts in all directions into the cosmos, where it is believed other planets are thought to be able to welcome life as we know it. Aboard each starship, a crew of six children from age 6 to 17 selected for their exceptional abilities will be sent in cryogenic sleep for a thousand-year-journey toward their destination. When they wake, the world they knew and came from will no longer exist. The story follows the journey of the crew from Starship 317.
This song was inspired by Charles-Henri’s true life story of when he met his wife. When Charles-Henri met Jennifer for one of their first dates during a rainy evening in Downtown Seattle, they both ran to catch the last bus to get back to their home. In a hurry, Jennifer removed her high-heels and gave them to Charles-Henri’s care as they were both running toward the nearest bus stop. The next morning, as they both wake up to go to work, Jennifer realized that one shoe was missing. In the haste, Charles-Henri must have dropped one of the shoe in the street. Realizing his mistake, he tells Jennifer to go to work, and he will go find the shoe. After retracing his exact path, taking the same bus line and looking in every corner of Seattle’s street in a busy work-day morning, Charles-Henri found the missing shoe near the famous Space needle, laying in the middle of a small patch of grass, illuminated by the rare sight of a sunbeam that made it through the thick clouds. Jennifer and Charles-Henri got married shortly after…
This is a track excerpt from the 60 min score that Charles-Henri wrote for the Lionsgate feature film “Simple Creature.” The directions for the score were to create minimalistic music through electronic synthesis and live solo instruments. Featured are Moog analog synthesizers blended with cello, acoustic and electric guitars.
Synopsis: A college student gets into a fatal bus accident, but instead of dying, she is reborn through hybrid nano technology by her biotech father and his advanced lab.
This is a track from the soon-to-be-announced AAA video game “Shadow Stalkers,” an espionage/action game featuring Hollywood luminaries such as Pierce Brosnan and Charlie Sheen.
When one of the missions suddenly calls to terminate one of the assets you were protecting, this is the music that comes on.
This track is part of of the 65 min score Charles-Henri composed for the feature documentary “Equal Means Equal” executive produced by Patricia Arquette. This track plays during the segment when American feminist, journalist and social political activist Gloria Steinem is asked about the disparity between men and women at the CEO level in America.
This is the full score of the award-winning short film “So This Priest Walks into a Bar” directed by Mark Lundsten.
Charles-Henri surprised director Mark Lundsten with a score featuring asian instruments, for a protestant priest entering an Irish Pub. The idea was to give a holistic feel while hinting at the fact that things may not be what they seem. Against pictures, the unusual choice of instrumentation ended-up being a winner.
Synopsis: When a priest walks into a neighborhood bar, to everyone's amusement, suddenly things are not what they seem. A movie about truth and deception - and how confession makes you thirsty.
STRONG LANGUAGE. Charles-Henri was asked to create a Rap theme for “Penny The Pimp” in the thriller feature film “Visage.” Penny The Pimp was played by rapper Maceo Swede who contributed lyrics for the piece. Charles-Henri composed, orchestrated and produced the whole song around it. The song plays in the background in the first introduction scene of the character in the film. The lyrics phase out as the dialogues kick -in in order to let them breathe while the music still provides for the atmospheric background.
Icarus is the first theme of Charles-Henri’s trance/techno album, ”Extreme Gravity” created as a tribute to the 90’s game series “Extreme-G Racing.” The game was about controlling ultra-speed motorcycles inspired by Disney’s “Tron” and the famous Japanese animé “Akira.” Composed with the famous game series' psychedelic ultra-fast racing in mind using powerful analog synthesizers such as Moog Voyager, Moog Model 15 and SlimPhatty to provide a rich electronic and organic environment.
Equal Means Equal: The ERA Theme
This is the theme for the Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) from the “Equal Means Equal” feature documentary executive produced by Patricia Arquette. The film makes a strong case for the ratification of the ERA which would give equal rights for women under the constitution of the United States of America. This piece was created for the film’s final scene montage. When it came time to figure out a theme for the ERA, Charles-Henri thought that in order for the theme to remain universal, it should have no lyrics, just a powerful rally chant that would bring all women around the world together and united. This is why he reached out to singer Christine Hals from Norway (“Frozen”) who is a specialist yodeling singer. The chant is accompanied with a powerful rock style anthem orchestration and the presence of cello performances. The track was designed to provide a memorable anthem while also accommodating for the strong presence of dialogue during the scene. It smoothly led the way to the End Credits of the film.
